Well it’s official! We have sold off the baby furniture and upgraded Lola to a big girl bed.
Yep, there is no locking her in now! LOL!
She is free to roam and sneak into my bed as she wishes, which hey is kind of better than her shouting for me to come and get her so I will take that as a positive. I can stay asleep now. ( Jokes, I sleep less now than I did with a newborn I tell ya!)
Anyway, back to the point… The room is DONE and Lola absolutely loves it. Her reaction was WOW I have a princess room! I was pretty chuffed because it took me a million years to finish ( because doing any kind of renovation with kids is hard) I could never be on The Block that’s for sure!
The room before the makeover was yellowish cream walls and old vertical blinds.
Originally I was going to paint the walls a soft pink, but then decided on just all white so I could easily change it up over time and not have to repaint ( which thank god I chose that because painting is hard!)
The colour I chose was lexicon half and I did it in a matt. It seriously brightened up the room so much and feels a lot fresher!

I wanted a feature wall so instead of painting one I found these incredible wall decals from Miss Pie Designs. They peel off and on easily so I can move them around or take them off and it does not affect the wall or the paint. The theme was pretty florals and I wanted to incorporate pinks, peach and lavender in the colour scheme. I am so impressed with the flower decals from Miss Pie! My mum thought they were painted! The detail is incredible and I am so happy with the colour combination they helped me to choose. I covered one whole wall for the feature and then tied in the theme with some around Lolas timber name plaque from Arlo and Co ( I got it when she was a baby).
Now for the big girl bed, I was shopping around for a rattan style bed head but was looking second hand and bought this from my friend with the matching chair and it honestly just sets the scene for a princess room.! It is the prettiest! I love to buy second hand when I can because it is better for the environment and it is also a great way to stick to a budget.
The bedding ( Doona cover and pillowcases)is from target. I actually got a queen Doona because it was on sale for $30 and I actually recommend it because she doesn’t lose her Doona at night now and get cold! And it covers the bed so well and hides the books stored underneath! The other patterned pillows are from Adairs.

To complete the princess look, I added the prettiest bed canopy from Strawberry Kisses Co and it is seriously beautiful quality! It really adds that extra girliness to the room. Steph from Strawberry Kisses Co is seriously so lovely and helped me with the colour to match the room. I was so impressed!
For the bedside table, I originally had one from Target but it was too unstable and would fall easily when Lola opened a draw. Not something you want in a childs room. So then Mocka Australia came to the rescue with the Tahoe Bedside table and I love how big the draws are! Delivery was fast and it was easy to assemble and it fits in perfectly! I have added drawer dividers from IKEA to store her little pyjamas and other everyday items like underwear and socks. It is easy for her to open too!

The floor rugs are from Kmart and target. The target one I had for a while but the Kmart rug is this one and it is actually great quality! I think it is such a great price too!
Of course the old vertical binds had to go so, because the windows are long and skinny I had to create my own curtain rods out of dowel ( I painted them white) and added the rod ends. It was actually so cheap to make! I found some $12 white roller blinds from Bunnings to block out the light and added the Kmart sheers to give softness to the room.
I minimised toys and store most of them in the cupboard and just keep her favourite things in two rattan baskets I got from Kmart and Ikea.
For the wall I found the prettiest floral picture from Little Peach and Pip and has a small shelf with dolls sitting in and an accordion style rack from Kmart to feature her little handbags, fairy dress and wings. Her favourite dolls bed from Tiny Harlow looks gorgeous in the toy corner along with her Olli Ella dolls pram.
I will soon be adding a little kitchen for her birthday too so stay tuned for that hack!

Styling up a room doesn’t have to be expensive so remember to look around and find was to glow up things you already own, shop second hand and add special touches with small business who create unique items. I had so much fun putting this all together and cannot wait to do another room soon!
Let me know if you have any questions!!
